Reporting Potholes

There are a number of ways potholes are dealt with:

Reactive.

There are a number of ways of reporting potholes: website, telephone, letter or in person. These enquires / complaints are then passed to the area teams, who’s inspector will inspect and order any works required. generally the filling of potholes will be within 5 working day.

Proactive.

The same inspectors generally travel around their areas and can at any time report and order the filling of any potholes.

We also have safety inspectors who inspect all the highway network at pre-defined frequencies. these inspectors are specifically looking for potholes and trips.

The safety inspectors work to given intervention criteria which is in our code of practice (generally 25mm footways and 40mm on carriageways.
